The Loving Kindness exercise is completed by finding a comfortable place, closing the eyes and repeating the selected phrase. The phrase that I repeated was similar but not exact. This was not the first time that I had done this type of Loving-Kindness exercise. Since this exercise was focusing on the suffering and happiness of others and not on myself I really felt a sense of peace after doing it. I didn't find the second exercise, The Integral Assessment as relaxing. I believe that I am at the point of my life where I am often asking myself these questions. I have chosen to start focusing on my own physical health. Each time I start the relaxation part of these exercises it amazes me that I am as tense as I am at the time. My blood pressure has been a concern for me for the past ten years. I am trying to make small changes in my life to help control it.

The integral assessment is challenging because it makes you focus on a certain aspect of your life which we sometimes have trouble doing. However, I feel that with a bit more practice and focus we can reach our goal and attaining a higher level of psychospiritual health.

I did find that the exercises that we had to do did anything for me. I tried them and had a hard time focusing on repeating a statement over and over. I am glad to hear that it worked for you. You are also correct that as we get older we tend to focus on our health more than what we did when we were younger.
ReplyDeleteI also liked the Universal Loving Kindness exercise, I think is an easy way to view and treat others with respect even when some people might not deserve it (because of their negative attitute and behavior). It also helped me to feel in peace within myself and reach a comfortable level of relaxation. However, physical health is always an important goal and small changes are easier to keep and achieve. Probably a small change in your daily diet will help you achieve the control that you need. Take care :)
