Unit 10

# Review your unit 3 personal assessment of your psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. Reflect on these areas . How did you score yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 in unit 3? How do you score yourself now? Has the score changed? Why or why not?
Ans: My scores for unit 3 have not changed very much I still score myself as (5) for Physical, and (8) for Spiritual, the only difference is my score for the psychological area has changed, with an increase of at least two points. The changes that I have made while taking this course are mostly due to stress reduction and consistently following the practices we have learned.

# Review the goals and activities you set for yourself in each area. Have you made progress toward the goals? Explain.
Ans: One goal that I have followed through with is also the most important for my physical well-being. All summer I had put off taking care of myself and going to see my physician for problems that I was experiencing. I have the habit of taking care of everyone else but myself and it is beginning to catch up with me. I made an appointment, kept it and plan to keep to the medication regimen that was given. It has made a big difference in how on feel on a daily basis.

# Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in each of the three areas? Explain.
Ans: Although I did start the walking activity that I chose for myself, with the weather in New York beginning to change I haven't kept up with it. Since visiting my physician I am aware that I need to be consistent. My spiritual health has always been important to me and I continue to meditate and pray on a regular basis. I am also continuing to work on the subtle mind and loving-kindness practices which has increased my psychological well-being immensely.

# Summarize your personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this experience improve your ability to assist others?

Ans: I am so happy that I chose to take this course. I can not tell you how much it has motivated me to make improvements in my life. The loving-kindness practice helped me to heal a broken relationship with a friend, who after hearing of my experiences in this class took it upon herself to use the practice to begin to heal the relationship between her and her estranged father. I will take what I have learned in this class to improve my own health and those whom I come in contact with. I cannot think of any area of my life that has not been helped by the information I have received. I believe the most difficult thing for me is falling back into the same routine again. It is easy for me to get into the habit of helping others and not myself. My health is beginning to suffer for it and I need to be consistent with the goals I set for myself. I know that as a health care professional I need to be an example for others.

  1. It’s good to read that there was some positive change in your score evaluation. There was a lot in this class that taught us several useful tools in finding ourselves and in applying what we learned to our everyday life. You did a great job with your blog post.

Good job with going to the doctor and following up on problems you were having. It's important to realize that to take care of everyone else in our life we need to be healthy as well. Good luck with your future goals and in continuing to implement the pratices we have learned in this class. Hope to see you again in another one!
